St. Louis City Open Studio and Gallery has the following volunteer and employment opportunities for Summer Camp 2011

Summer Camp: June 6, 2011 – August 12, 2011 (10 weeks)
Summer Camp Junior Counselors
Hours: 8:30AM-3:30PM M-F (35 hours) Volunteer Position
1 week minimum commitment; 20 positions available (2 per week)
- Assist camp councelors with planning, organizing, conducting, and supervising camp activities for children ages 5-11 (K-5th grades)
- Attend full-day camp orientation
- Ages 16+ may apply
Summer Camp Extended Care Coordinator
Hours: 2:30PM-6:30PM M-F (20 hours) Rate: $8/hour
June 6 – August 12 (10 weeks) 1 position available
- Work with camp director to plan and organize a variety of activities (art, craft, games, etc) for children K-5th in camp aftercare program
- Conduct and supervise a variety of activities for children ages 5-11 (K-5th grades)
- Work with volunteer aftercare providers
- Provide a FUN and Safe environment for all
- Maintain security of premises
- Enforce camp and park regulations
- Attend 2 pre-season planning meetings and 1 full day camp orientation + 20-25 hours pre-camp activity preparation
Requirements:
- 18+ with dependable transportation
- 1-3 years experience working with children ages 5-11 preferably in a classroom / camp environment
- 1-3 years experience with various studio art media
- Current First Aid Certification or will complete by May 1(Red Cross)
- Able to pass MO Department Health and Senior Services Family Care Registry
Summer Camp Counselors
Hours: 8:30AM-3:30PM M-F (35 hours) Rate: $10/hour
June 6 – August 12 (10 weeks) 3 positions available
3 Full time (35 hours) Positions:
- Plan, organize, conduct and supervise art camp activities for children ages 5-11 (K-5th grades)
- Create age appropriate lesson plans for art and multi-displinary activities
- Supervise campers and junior councelors
- Provide a FUN and Safe environment for all
- Enforce camp and park regulations
- Attend 2 pre-season planning meetings and 1 full day camp orientation + 30-35 hours pre-camp activity preparation.
Requirements:
- 18+ with dependable transportation
- 2-4 years experience working with children ages 5-11 preferably in a classroom / camp environment
- 1-3 years experience with various studio art media
- Current First Aid Certification or will complete by May 1(Red Cross)
- Able to pass MO Department Health and Senior Services Family Care Registry background check
Summer Camp Director
Hours: 7:30AM-3:30 M-F (40 Hours) Rate: $11.50/hour
June 6 – August 12 (10 weeks) 1 position available
- Supervises camp counselors, junior counselors, volunteers and aftercare staff
- Provide a FUN and Safe environment for all
- Develops curriculum in conjunction with Program Director
- Coordinates daily camp operations including art projects, field trips, recreation activities, staff/volunteer assignments
- Coordinates/Facilitates daily pre-camp extended care (7:30-9AM)
- Responsible for collecting payment/handling billing issues with parents as directed by Program Director.
- Handles issues involving safety, discipline, and park rules as well as conduct staff meetings, and other administrative duties as assigned
- Attend 3-4 pre-season planning meetings with program director and/or camp staff and 1 full-day camp orientation as well as 60-75 hours pre-camp lesson/activities preparation and development
Requirements:
- BA/BFA/BS (preferred: Studio Art, Art Ed, or Gen Ed.)
- 3-5 years classroom / camp experience
- 3-5 years supervisory / management experience
- 3-5 years experience with various studio art media
- 3-5 years experience K-5 art lesson plan development and implementation
- Current First Aid Certification or will complete by May 1(Red Cross)
- Able to pass MO Department Health and Senior Services Family Care registry Background check.
