Art is for EVERYBODY! Come make art with us at the Saint Louis City Open Studio and Gallery booth. Join SCOSaG in a variety of interactive art activities for all ages throughout the festival.
Established in 2004, Schlafly’s Art Outside is an alternative juried and invitational art fair dedicated to showcasing local art in an approachable venue and manner. Held at the brewery’s Bottleworks location in Maplewood, MO the fair’s mission is to increase public knowledge and appreciation for the local art scene by creating opportunities that connect artists, musicians, performers, and the community.

Sunday, September 19: Celebrity Chef Cake Decorating Contest to Benefit SCOSAG
Presented by Herb 'n Maid, celebrity chefs will compete in the ultimate cake decorating contest, using designs created by SCOSAG students during Labor Day School Daze camp on the theme of "my dream green job." The event is free to attend with a donation of funds or supplies to SCOSAG. The art and cakes will be auctioned, and local vendors will provide treats to sample while you watch the cake decorating contest.
Proceeds from the event will fund kiln repairs and supplies. Clay is the most popular media for all ages at SCOSAG, and your donations will allow this well-loved programming to continue.
The event will take place at Moonrise Hotel in the University City Loop. Times and further details to be announced.
Saturday, September 25: Morgan Ford in Motion
Morgan Ford in Motion is a community street festival featuring live music, located South of Tower Grove Park at the corner of Morgan Ford and Juniata. SCOSAG will there with interactive arts activities for all ages. For more details, visit morganfordinmotion.com.
Saturday, September 25: Green Homes Festival
On Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 10AM - 6PM, Grandel Square, the urban home of the Missouri Botanical Garden’s EarthWays Center, will become a “green street promenade” of informative exhibitors, more than 90 vendors showcasing “green innovations” and children’s activities. The Green Homes Festival will offer expert workshops and demonstrations on solar and wind energy, home and vehicle efficiency, urban farming, composting, and more! Kicking off at 10 a.m. and celebrating sustainable living until 6 p.m., this event is FREE to the public. Exhibits, workshops, art activities and street entertainment offer fun for the entire family as you learn how to reduce your home’s energy costs while you help protect the planet.
SCOSAG will be teaming up with the ReStore on an interactive arts activity. Come make art with us!
Saturday, September 25: Chippewa Chapel Band Scramble to Benefit SCOSAG

CALLING ALL MUSICIANS
This is how the Band Scramble works: 35 participants may register as Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums, or "Other". They are then randomly assigned into five-piece bands and given three weeks to write three entirely original songs. On September 25th at Off Broadway, these young bands will perform their new songs in a high-energy head-to-head competition. Local celebrities will judge bands, and the winners will packages of gift certificates to local businesses.
Sign-ups for the Chippewa Chapel Band Scramble begin Thursday, August 19th at The Chippewa Chapel (Iron Barley, 5510 Virginia), and continue during operating hours at Off Broadway (3509 Lemp) until 35 musicians are enrolled. Entrance fee is $15, and enrollment is limited to 35 musicians on a first come, first served basis. Bands will be drawn and announced on Thursday, September 2nd, at the Chippewa Chapel Open Mic, giving the bands just over three weeks before the competition takes place at Off Broadway on Saturday, September 25th.
CALLING ALL MUSIC FANS
Admission to experience the Band Scramble is $10. Proceeds will form a Music Camp Scholarship Fund at the St. Louis City Open Studio & Gallery (SCOSAG), located in Tower Grove Park. Your donations will enable children with financial need who show interest in music the opportunity to attend a two-week, process-orientated and multi-discipline summer music camp.
